2019 MINI Cooper The Economical City Car
The MINI brand went through many changes in its BMW-owned rebirth, but the fundamental spirit of driving enjoyable and economical practicality remains. The zippy, cute-faced MINI is a small car which has carved itself a unique niche on the market. For 2018, there aren't any significant modifications and pricing remains stable. An all-new MINI is a result of debut soon, but the design is prone to expand on the current theme though not prone to expand much in size.
The shape and details which make even a modern MINI instantly recognizable will stay, blending the classic with the current inside a compact and, sometimes, cute design. The brand new Cooper Hardtop will arrive first, unveiled toward the finish of 2017 before going on sale within the first half of next year as the 2018 model. Updates to drivetrain and additional equipment haven't been released yet. The remainder from the MINI lineup will continue forward for the 2018 model.
As for current design, a short hood, "floating" roof, and large, round headlights are among the characteristic elements shared one of the Coupe, Convertible, Roadster, Clubman, and Hardtop (hatchback) versions. Inside, much is the same between the different models, at least in the front strip. The center-mounted speedometer puts the sporty side from the MINI at the fore, while quirky buttons and switches sit inside a funky design that shows the Cooper's lighter in weight side. It's a busy look, but everything works within the MINI's palette.
Under the hood, the MINI range shares its motors: base models get a 121-horsepower, 1.6-liter four-cylinder; Cooper Utes models a 181-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter 4; and John Cooper Work’s models use a level hotter 208-horsepower version of the engine. With regard to base and Cooper S models, a range of six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic can be obtained; the same is also true of the John Cooper Works models, with the addition from the automatic option.
Despite their sporty character, the MINI range can also be effective, with gas mileage of up to twenty nine mpg city and 37 mpg highway. In spite of their small size and sharp handling, the numerous MINI variants ride surprisingly well. Road sound raises its head, and as you climb the activity spectrum, choppiness and harshness rise, most noticeably within the John Cooper Works models. All MINIs have difficulties with rearward visibility, thanks to the high beltline, reduced seating position, and somewhat chunky rear roofing supports.
In Clubman models, the center-opening back door further hinders visibility. The comfort and space are surprisingly good--in the leading seats. Even those well over six feet tall should find lots of leg and head room, the low roof of Coupe and Roadster models could make it harder. The back seats of Clubman and Cooper Hardtop as well as Convertible models are usable, but not roomy. Materials are good throughout, but perhaps with increased hard plastic than you'd expect at MINI's price.
The 2018 MINI Cooper and crew haven't yet been crash-tested through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or even the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), however the 2017 model earned top marks of "Good" within moderate-overlap front-end crash tests, and "Average" within side-impact and roof-strength tests. Standard safety gear includes: six airbags, stability and traction manage, anti-lock brakes, hill-start assist, run-flat tires, as well as parking sensors.
Customization straight from the dealer is among MINI's strong suits, there is a host of aesthetic tweaks that may be made to any MINI: whether Hardtop, Clubman, Roadster, Coupe, or even Convertible, including paint options for the vehicle, side mirrors, and roof, plus vinyl image packages. Standard equipment is a bit Spartan although Bluetooth and USB/iPod integration make the quality, but upgrades like MINI Connected with Applications, a 10-speaker audio system, and navigation can add the near-luxury factor in the event that's what you're after.
For 2018, there's only one premium package, now including a dual-pane breathtaking sunroof, rain sensor / automatic headlight manage, and automatic climate control. A new City Pack is going to be offered, including: alarm system, power fold decorative mirrors, heated mirror and wash jets, auto dimming rear-view decorative mirrors (interior and exterior), rear park distance manage and comfort access.
